LitCharts

I'm sure most of you already know about this website, but for those of you who don't, LitCharts.com is a good place to find additional resources.

They have a guide for each of the texts we are studying for the AS Level, apart from the poetry.

When you are doing a piece of work at home do not copy anything from them, or reference the guides in your work, but use them to gather ideas, and as a starting point for further research/interpretation.

If you find any other useful resources like this then please let one of us know, so we can share it with all of you.

A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE - TENNESSEE WILLIAMS

This is a link to an article on "Plastic Theatre" - a term coined by Williams in his preface to "The Glass Menagerie", his first play.  It means the use of theatrical devices - such as sound, props, imagery, setting - to convey the psychology of the characters.

Some examples are given.  I suggest you go through the play reviewing these and adding other examples as you find them.  This is a crucial in discussing how Williams "presents" his themes.
